As a dedicated instructor, I’ve had the good fortune of transforming my passion for the outdoors and working with people into a rewarding business. I’m also incredibly privileged to be able to call the beautiful county of Kerry my home!
My mission is to show a different side of this little corner of Ireland to my clients and to help them gain a better and deeper understanding of the sites and destinations we explore.
Helena (to be confirmed for 2025)
My name is Helena, a yoga teacher and business owner, and founder of Yoga Le Grá.
I live on the stunning Irish coastline near a beautiful village called Glenbeigh in the county of Kerry. I adore the outdoors, being up the mountains, in the woods, sea dips, and long walks! Yoga for me, is a way of life, but it was not always that way ......
I used to think of yoga as just a physical exercise, like strength, and stretching, but at the end of my first yoga class (during savasana), I realized it encompasses so much more...

The event takes place in the beautiful and quiet autumn season in the south-west of Ireland - County Kerry. Relax and enjoy the retreat at an elegant Country House tucked away in the unspoilt beauty of Killarney’s Lake District. This hidden treasure, nestled on the northern shore of Killarney’s great lake, Loch Lein, offers magnificent views of the McGillicuddy Reeks.
The retreat includes a hike to the top of Ireland: Carrauntoohil is the country’s highest peak, but still it’s barely higher than a thousand meters (1039m to be exact). It belongs to McGillycuddy Reeks, the only mountain range in the country with peaks over a thousand.

From Frankfurt Hahn you can fly directly to airport Kerry. It is about 30 minutes drive from the airport to Loch Lein.
From many European cities you can fly to airport Dublin and take the train from Dublin to Killarney (about 4hours). From there it is about 20 minutes to Loch Lein.
Another good airport might be Cork. From Cork it is about 2 hours drive by rental car to Loch Lein.
Feel free to explore Ireland before or after the retreat. Please get in contact with Loch Lein to book additional days.
Depending on your fitness levels, how many breaks you want to take and how often you stop for photos, the whole hike to Carrauntoohil can take from 6hrs - 8hrs total. There is no climbing required. You should be able to do a 6-8 hours walk.
Starting at Cronin’s Yard, the hike begins with a steady walk into the Hag’s Glen and begins to ascend via the Devil’s Ladder (the major access route to the mountain) up to the saddle. Turning right from there, we will then begin the final ascent to the beautiful summit of the mountain. Here you will give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back, before soaking up the views from the very top of Ireland. After a quick cuppa and a bite to eat, we will retrace our path back down to the saddle, then down the zig-zag path before rejoining the trail back to our starting point. Please note that this is the must popular route up and Carrauntoohil. Other variations are available depending on fitness levels and preferences.
This is Ireland after all, so we do recommend you come prepared with waterproof boots and waterproof clothing! Walking trousers or comfortable athletic clothes are ideal. Please don't wear jeans! Depending on the time of year and weather forecast, a spare warm layer, a hat and gloves may be needed! Mountain footwear is essential as this hike covers a rough mountain path that is rocky and unstable in some places. You may be turned away by the guide if you arrive in inappropriate footwear!
No. The minimum age for participants at the "Know your Why and Hike" event is 16 years.
